Ex-East 17 star Brian Harvey has said there was "nothing sinister" about the incident in which he was seriously hurt under the wheels of his own car.

The singer, 30, has been taken off a ventilator, moved out of intensive care and is able to talk about the incident, his manager told the BBC News website.

"Brian has had a series of recollections, but... it was nothing sinister," Simon Harrison said.

He is being treated in south London's St George's Hospital.

A hospital spokesman said his condition remained stable.

Road to recovery

Police said Harvey appeared to have been reversing down an access road with his car door open in Walthamstow, east London, when he hit another car, was thrown out and crushed.

Press reports said the singer had previously attempted suicide twice that month.

Mr Harrison said that although Harvey was out of intensive care, he could remain in hospital for several more weeks.

"It is very positive... he is now in a normal ward. He could go home in a week, but it could be up to eight weeks."

"He is on the road to recovery, but they are long-term healing injuries."

The singer would not reveal more about the incident yet as he had two exclusive interview deals lined up, Mr Harrison said.

Since Harvey's feeding tube had been removed from his nose, he had been able to enjoy his favourite fast food meal, he added.
