Singer Brian Harvey could be moved out of intensive care in the next 24 hours, three weeks after suffering life-threatening injuries in an horrific car crash.

Pals of the 30-year-old former East 17 star revealed he is now fully conscious and speaking after medics at St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, brought him out of a 'drug-induced' coma to evaluate the full extent of his injuries.

Harvey broke both his legs, shattered his pelvis, punctured a lung and seriously damaged his abdomen in the mystery crash near his home in Walthamstow, east London, on Monday May 30.

The star's mother, Pauline, and on-off girlfriend, model Emma B, who cancelled a job offer in Los Angeles to be with him, have been maintaining a bedside vigil since the crash.

Emma's agent said today she is now going back to work, but refuses to venture outside London so she can be near Harvey.

Her agent, Sean Borg, said: "I've just heard from Emma that Brian is coming out of intensive care today or tomorrow and she has said she hopes he will finally unveil the mystery behind the accident.

"She will be relieved when the mystery finally unfolds after spending three nail-biting weeks on standby at his bedside."

He added: "She is going to start doing some work now.

"But she said she will only be doing stuff that can be filmed in London so she can be near Brian and she said she'll speak to him before she decides whether to go to LA - she won't go without speaking to him first."

After visiting the stricken star in hospital at the weekend his agent Simon Harrison said the star was looking "grey", but was on the mend.

He said: "It's still early days. Brian still looked very ill when I went in to see him at the weekend and he had lots of rods and things poking out of him. He looked very grey, but he is conscious, awake and on the mend.

"We're all keeping our fingers crossed that as early as tomorrow he comes out of intensive care.

"Then they'll put him in a high dependency unit, which is only one down from intensive care, but it means he's no longer on the critical list, so it's all positive."

Mr Harrison managed to take down a personal message from Harvey thanking his fans for their support.

Mr Harrison added: "I don't know when he will speak about what actually happened.

"We don't want to rush him if it is going to be detrimental to his health. We've just got to gauge it right, but hopefully towards the end of the week he'll be able to get his side over.

"But he is making good, steady progress. Although his voice was very hoarse I could make out what he was saying. He just wanted to give a personal thank you to all his fans.

"His room was inundated with cards and flowers from all over the world and he just wanted to say a huge thank you."

The message from the star read: "Hi Everyone (I know Simon is typing this, but these are the exact words I wanted him to tell you all) I am so deeply touched with emotion from the sheer love and affection I have felt from you all.

"It makes me very emotional to read your messages and cards, and I want to thank each and everyone one of you for your love and support, and to let you know I will beat this thing and be back stronger than ever.

"Keep the faith, always, love Brian x x x x x x"
