HISTORY has repeated itself — EAST 17 have split again.
Yes, that’s right, the boys will not Stay Another Day despite planning a new album.
TONY MORTIMER, BRIAN HARVEY, JOHN HENDY and TERRY COLDWELL reformed for a one-off gig at Shepherds Bush Empire in May. And initially things seemed to be going smoothly.
They even signed up for a TAKE THAT-style documentary, ironically about reforming the band, and were back in the studio writing a new album.
But friction between Tony and Brian flared up again.
And after their recent fight, which I exclusively revealed, Brian refused to work with Tony for evermore. Tony was then ousted from the line up.
John told me: “Brian refused to work with Tony again after their punch up.
“Brian thought if Tony reacts like that every time he’s late, then what’s the point.
“I don’t think Tony’s heart was in it really. There was too much of an ego clash between him and Brian.
“We have carried on with just the three of us and did a gig in Russia the other week, which was mental.”
They have filmed their final interviews for the documentary going out later this year. John added: “It’s pretty strong stuff.
“Brian wants us to try it all again with just us and Terry. But I’ve got my roofing company to think about.
“I don’t know if I want to give up the business I’ve built up to dance on stage.”
Hmmm. Up a ladder all day or singing for an hour to hundreds of adoring
