EAST 17 bad boy Brian Harvey was found guilty of speeding on the M4 and now faces a six-month driving ban.

Harvey, 33, stood trial at Chippenham Magistrates today, after being pulled over by police on May 24 near junction 16.

Traffic officers told the court they had to drive up to 138 mph to catch up with Harvey.

Harvey, who was representing himself, denied he was speeding and told the court officers had wrongly recorded his car as an Audi.

Chief magistrate Michael Sutton rejected Harvey's version of events and fined him £390.

Speaking outside the court Harvey said he wouldn't be coming back to Chippenham in a hurry.

He said: "The magistrates were very lenient and I appreciate that. The officers who testified told lies.

"It is not the outcome I had hoped for but at least I don't have any points. Representing myself was a laugh."

After appearing in court in Chippenham today Brian Harvey said East 17 were working on a new album and would be touring soon.

The singer is set to star in gangster film Fight Back and has already recorded the soundtrack.

He said: "Work is going really well and we start shooting the film in two weeks. I am really excited.

"For us it is all about the music. We aren't like some artists who only care about the fame. Music has been my passion since I was young."
